Overview

The 2018 Ford Expedition takes everything the previous generation was known for and revamps it to provide an even more enjoyable driving experience.

The Expedition sits on a new, slightly longer frame and sheds some weight thanks to aluminum body construction. It may be larger than its predecessor, but it weighs 300 pounds less, providing a thoroughly enjoyable driving experience. Other exciting new features include a 10-speed transmission and technology-filled interior.

Whether you opt for the base XLT trim or find yourself drawn to the larger Expedition MAX or luxurious Platinum, the 2018 lineup has the model to fit any SUV shopper’s needs.

The Perfect Ride for…

Families who love making an adventure out of the everyday. The 2018 Expedition seats up to eight and provides plenty of cargo room for toting groceries, pets, camping gear, or whatever else you might need to transport. Third-row entry has been made easier with second-row seats that tip, slide, and tumble out of the way (even with a car seat strapped in).

Fold the second- and third-row seats  completely flat, and the Expedition boasts a solid 121.5 cubic-feet of cargo capacity. In-vehicle Wi-Fi can connect up to 10 devices and has a reach of 50 feet, perfect for camping trips or soccer games.

Drive & Handling

The 2018 Expedition is powered by a 3.5.-liter EcoBoost® V6 that’s mated to a 10-speed transmission. Ford claims this combination makes the new-generation model the most powerful SUV in its lineup. If you’re worried about hauling a trailer or camper, don’t be. The Expedition boasts best-in-class towing capacity of 9,300 lbs when properly equipped.

Ford has also included the trailer backup assist currently found in the F-Series that will allow you to back into your campsite or launch a boat with ease, along with a 360-degree camera and enhanced active park assist. Feel free to take the path less traveled when you choose available four-wheel drive that comes with an electronic limited-slip differential.

Key Features

SYNC® 3

This infotainment system takes everything you love about the original SYNC® system and upgrades it. Enjoy voice-activated technology, hands-free calling, Apple Carplay™, Apple Maps, Android Auto™, Google Maps™, FordPass®, and much more. An in-dash screen reacts quickly to swipe and pinch motions, making it easy to command all of the available features from behind the wheel.

Second-Row Dual-Screen Entertainment

Screens mounted on the back of the front-seat headrests will prove handy for entertaining smaller guests on a trip, while anyone in the third row can watch live television through Ford’s partnership with Sling TV™.*

Cargo Management System

Utilize the many bins and shelves for a variety of gear behind the third-row seats, and store any other gadgets inside the large center storage bin. Cubby spaces, 17 cup holders, and two glove boxes mean you never have to fight for a spot to rest your belongings or treats while on a road trip.

Alternative Options

The Ford Flex is as recognizable as it is reliable. This spacious model seats up to seven and has plenty of safety features so you can travel confidently. If you’re looking for something slightly smaller but still capable, take the Ford Explorer for a test drive. It can also transport up to seven people and can be upgraded with the Trailer Tow Package if you need to haul gear.
